Two more days!!!

Just got an email from the breeder - flight lands at 2:14 on Wednesday!

Today we were busy getting some last minute things done. The kids put the sleeping cage together for me, while I made a hanging sphere. I just used three hula hoops and wrapped them in sisal or cotton rope. I ran out, and will use vet wrap on the missing pieces until my order comes in and I can finish. I am waiting for some ss washers to secure my perches, they will be here tomorrow morning. Right before I left for a few days, my last toy order came in so I think I am set with everything we'll need...at least for a little while!

We have a date!!!

My Baby Grey is tentatively/weather permitting scheduled to come home on Wednesday, April 2nd! We are all very excited!

I talked to the breeder on Monday, and heard cute stories of our Grey swinging circles on his rope swing/perch, yelling playfully. And how he got out of his cage and knocked boxes from the top of the steps, all the way down! Cute little bugger. :)

I can't wait to meet him!

I am going away until Sunday evening, but expect lots of posts the coming week!

Tomorrow I am going to call the breeder to see what the weather is like in Michigan. Hopefully, we will come up with a Homecoming Date!!!

Quick update...

I called the breeder tonight, and asked her to just tell me some stories about him. (I probably should have warned her before she reserved the baby for me, that patience is definitely not my strong suit!)

She said he is doing well eating, gets all excited about being handfed but quickly becomes disinterested when he realizes its formula and winds up not getting much at all. She said he has recently discovered digging - sending food all over the place! He is utilizing all parts of his cage, manuevering around pretty well. We talked about his toys, which kinds he likes and which ones he doesn't care for - apparently his rope swing is his favorite, so I'm gonna try to get him one for his cage here. She said he vocalizes alot (I got to hear him over the phone :) so she thinks he might be a good talker, since that has been her experience. That would be so neat if he actually does learn to talk! She also told me he is a nice little snuggler.

At this point, I expect to hear from her shortly after Easter with a more clear idea of when he will be coming home.

I thought I had a name...

...but I changed my mind. I don't like Zaki anymore - I like all the reasons and stuff behind it, but not really the name itself. I can't see me calling him that for the next 50 - 80 years.

I love the name Owen. No reasons at all, other than I just like it. :) But I will have to meet him to be sure that's it.

Getting antsy!

I feel like I've been waiting for this baby Grey bird...f o r e v e r!

I checked the weather for this week here and in Michigan, and it won't be warm enough just yet. After whining to the breeder about my impatience, she sent me this:

I will tell you this - he is gonna be well worth the wait! He is really, really sweet and I love to cuddle him - you guys are going to just love him!
